Centre des arts populaires de Nicolet
Description
A unique and surprising building, the Centre des Arts Populaires was constructed in 1957 following a major landslide. It incorporates architectural elements salvaged from the demolition of the cathedral built in 1909. The vaulted ceiling of the main hall gives the building its distinctive character.
The main hall is ideal for weddings, large exhibitions, concerts, trade shows, or large group meetings, accommodating up to 400 people seated.
Surrounding the main hall are several other rooms: 3 multifunctional rooms (seating 40 to 60 people), a conference room (14 seats), a fully equipped kitchen, a snack bar, a classroom, a chapel, a weaving workshop, and even a « laboratory of alchemy. » These spaces are used for training sessions and social gatherings.
Since 2014, the Centre des Arts Populaires has been developing immersive theater activities. These activities justify the setup of thematic sets.
