The area’s soils are mostly sandy loam, ideal for gardening. Additionally, the region around Lake Saint-Pierre benefits from a microclimate that allows for earlier and milder springs. It was under these favorable agricultural conditions that the Comtois family established what would become Ferme des Ormes around 1860.
When it comes to picking seasonal fruits, there’s nothing more enjoyable than combining usefulness with pleasure by harvesting your own fruits directly from the producer. Ferme des Ormes offers this opportunity every day of the week and provides various containers to make your picking easier. It is always preferable to pick in the coolness of the early morning while the fruits are still firm and full of flavor. You can pick strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and in the autumn season, pumpkins.
